‘Fancy (feat. Charli XCX)’ by Iggy Azalea
A song featuring two of my fave artists of the moment. And the video is brilliant too.
We do not divulge our histories chronologically.
It’s not like we can sit each other down and say, “Tell me what happened,” and then rise from that conversation knowing everything. Most of the time, we don’t even realize that we’re dividing ourselves into clues. You’ll say, “That was before my dad left my mom,” and I’ll say, “Your dad left your mom?” Or I’ll say, “That was right before Jamie told me we should just be friends,” and you’ll ask, “Who’s Jamie?” I’ll swear Jamie was on that initial roll call of heartbreak (perfect for any second date), but maybe I forgot, or maybe you’ve forgotten.
I swear I told you I was allergic to sunflowers. You might have told me your sister once pulled out a handful of your hair, and you were both terrified when your scalp bled. But I don’t think you did. I think I’d remember that.
Tell me again."
Talking to my friend about tumblr…
I wish more of these “boundary pushing” pinup spreads pushed some actual boundaries
These are lovely pictures, and I adore the focus on questioning age as a factor in desirability; but the fact that these are all beautiful, thin, white, able-bodied, cis, hour-glassed and busty women makes me sad.
With your last post, what makes you think they are all cis gendered and able-bodied? Would it not be more fair, as not everything in life is obvious and visible, that they are all ‘portrayed’ as cis gendered and able-bodied? I appreciate the post, but I just felt like that sentence was very presumptuous. - Mermalade :)
They are all portrayed as cis and able-bodied. Even if they are non-cis or disabled, they weren’t styled and portrayed to reflect those identities. I was expressing a desire to see pin-ups styled with obvious alternate gender representation, body shape and size, variety in race, and abilities.
I want to recognize that these photos are excellent for pushing the boundaries of age and desirability, but I also want more.
